JOHN SHEA 1940-2021

Chicago Capital is saddened by the passing of our co-founder, John Shea. John began his investment career at John A. Shea Investment Advisor. He brought his talent to William Blair in 2010, where he joined his longtime friend, Jim Mabie. In 2018, John and Jim decided it was time for a new project and started Chi-Cap.

John had a lifelong curiosity and love for learning. John earned his PhD at Indiana University Bloomington and taught American Literature before earning an MBA at Loyola University Chicago. He was a member of the Board of Visitors of the Dictionary of American Regional English and was a long-standing board member at the Old Town School of Folk Music, where the lobby in the east building is named in honor of John. He was also an ardent supporter of the Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts).

John's curiosity and generosity are at the core of Chi-Cap. He was more than our co-founder, he was our dear friend.
